How to Print Labels

Overview

This page outlines Silo's recommended label dimensions, how to customize what is shown on each type of label, and available label suppliers.

 

Pallet Labels

Pallet labels can be printed from POs, transfers, and the Lot Details window. They are only available if the Pallet Definitions feature is enabled in Settings > Features. They are composed of 1 parent sticker (5" H x 4" W) and 6 child stickers (1" H x 2" W). The parent sticker will always show the same information, but there are a few settings that control what appears on the parent and child stickers (both found on Settings > Orders under the Purchase Order Documents section).

  • Quantity to display on parent pallet labels: You can choose to display both lot and units per pallet as defined in pallet definitions, lot quantity, units per pallet, or neither.
  • Date to display on parent pallet labels: You can choose to display the received date, pack date, use by date, or no date.
  • Hide everything except lot number on child pallet labels: If this setting is enabled, child stickers will only show lot number (and barcode, if your account is using this feature).
  • Quantity to display on child pallet labels: If Hide everything except lot number on child pallet labels is not turned on, you can choose to display lot quantity, units per pallet, both, or neither.

PTI Labels

Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) labels can be printed from SOs, POs, and the Packing screen. They are only available if the PTI Labels feature is enabled in Settings > Features. The recommended label size is 4" H x 6" W.

Lot Labels

Lot labels can be printed from the PO screen (for individual items or for all inventory items on the PO at once) and from the Lot Details window. The recommended label size is 4" H x 6" W.Screenshot

 

Printer and Label Suppliers

Printers

Your printer must be able to support at least 4" width printing. Some popular manufacturers include Zebra, Honeywell, and TSC.

Labels

  • Pallet labels - You are free to buy from whomever you want as long as they meet our label dimension specifications but there may be an upfront cost due to potentially needing a template. Silo has customers who have successfully bought labels from labelmatch.com and they should already have a template that meets our specifications.

  • PTI and Lot Labels - The recommended label dimensions are commonly found from a variety of label suppliers. While we have recommended dimensions, you are free to choose whichever label size you are comfortable with but you will need to ensure that your printer settings are configured to scale Silo's labels to your preferred label size.
