Getting Started with Mobile Scanning
Introduction
Silo will soon support mobile scanning where you'll be able to use a handheld device to perform warehouse tasks such as picking and receiving. The purpose of this page is to cover general requirements to get started.
How does it work?
All mobile workflows will rely on a combination of pallet labels and handheld scanners to perform tasks. Here are a couple demo videos that demonstrate how scan to pick will work

What do I need?
Scanner
- The scanner must support some form of wireless connectivity such as WiFi or Cellular. You must ensure that the warehouse has connectivity throughout. Silo's scanning workflow does not have an offline mode
- The scanner must have a web browser that the scanner can pass scanning input into
- The scanner must support custom prefix and suffix
- Silo tested our scanning workflows using the following devices
- Tera P400 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D85Y2KVP
- Zebra TC22 - https://www.zebra.com/us/en/products/spec-sheets/mobile-computers/handheld/tc22-tc27.html
- Zebra TC26 - https://www.zebra.com/us/en/products/mobile-computers/handheld/tc2x-series/tc26.html
- Zebra devices are fairly expensive when buying directly from distributor, refurbished options through eBay are much more affordable.
Pallet labels
- You must have pallet definitions enabled - Here is a guide on how to turn it on
- You must have pallet labels applied to the inventory you want to scan - Here is a guide on label and printer requirements as well as a label supplier.
What workflows do you currently support?
Silo will start with scan to pick workflows and we are actively building this. We will evaluate building additional workflows such as scan to receive but currently do not have a timeline for additional features.
